Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU with 3D V-Cache Launch
We are just a few days away from the official launch of AMD's Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU with 3D V-Cache on November 7. Early estimates are already showing a significant speed increase compared to the previous generation Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU. A Geekbench submission found by Everest (Olrak29_) on X reveals that the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is running at a clock speed of 5.46 GHz, which is 260 MHz higher than the official boost frequency of 5.2 GHz, indicating overclocking has been applied. Unlike previous X3D processors where overclocking was disabled, this time around, the compute die is placed on top of SRAM, allowing for better heat dissipation and a stable overclock.
In terms of performance, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D surpasses its predecessor, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, by an impressive 24% in the single-core Geekbench v6 test and 23.61% in the multicore test. The previous generation CPU scored 2,726 points in single-core and 15,157 points in multicore tests, while the new Zen 5 design has achieved 3,473 points in single-core and 19,216 in multicore tests. These results indicate a significant improvement over Zen 4, showcasing the benefits of the Zen 5 architecture with enhanced SRAM bandwidth and capacity. While these results are based on synthetic benchmarks, they provide a glimpse of the CPU's capabilities. Real-world test cases will be needed to fully assess the performance improvement.
