Minisforum and Intel Unveil Next-Generation All-Flash NAS Systems
At a recent joint event in Xiamen, Minisforum and Intel introduced two innovative all-flash NAS (Network Attached Storage) solutions powered by Intel Series 3 processors: the compact S5 and the high-capacity S7. These new NAS devices are designed to deliver exceptional performance, silent operation, and advanced connectivity for both home and enterprise environments.
Minisforum S5: Silent, Compact, and SSD-Only
The Minisforum S5 stands out for its unique, fanless design and exclusive use of solid-state storage. Built on the Intel Core Series 3 (Wildcat Lake) platform, which leverages Intel’s advanced 18A process technology, the S5 is tailored for edge computing, laptops, and commercial applications. Instead of traditional hard drives, the S5 features five M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x1 SSD slots, ensuring high-speed, all-flash storage with no moving parts.
This all-SSD architecture, combined with a fanless chassis, allows the S5 to operate in complete silence—making it ideal for home theater setups or any environment where noise is a concern. The system supports up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X-7200 memory, providing ample resources for multitasking and demanding applications.
Connectivity is a highlight of the S5, featuring a 10 GbE RJ45 port, a 2.5 GbE RJ45 port, two USB4 40 Gbps ports, two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, and HDMI 2.1 output. Integrated Wi-Fi 7 ensures fast and reliable wireless networking. The combined SSD throughput is rated at up to 10.8 GB/s, delivering rapid data access and transfer speeds.
Minisforum S7: Enterprise-Grade Storage and Networking
For users with more demanding storage needs, the Minisforum S7 is built on the MS-03 workstation platform and offers seven NVMe slots, making it suitable for heavier workloads and larger data sets. The S7 is engineered for enterprise and power users, featuring advanced networking options such as dual 10G SFP+ fiber ports, a 10G RJ45 port, a 2.5G RJ45 port, and two USB4 40 Gbps ports.
An integrated LED status display provides real-time system and storage activity updates, enhancing usability for home labs and professional environments. The S7’s robust design and connectivity options make it a strong choice for users seeking high-performance, scalable NAS solutions.
AI-Enhanced Features and Future Availability
Both the S5 and S7 support Minisforum’s MinisOpenClaw AI agent, which offers advanced features such as AI-powered semantic photo search. The AI agent can be installed with a single click, streamlining setup and enhancing the user experience.
While Minisforum and Intel have not yet announced pricing or release dates for the S5 and S7, these all-flash NAS systems represent a significant step forward in silent, high-speed, and AI-enhanced storage solutions for both home and enterprise users.
