Core Configurations and Architecture
The upcoming Nova Lake-S lineup will feature processors equipped with either one or two compute dies. These CPUs will incorporate up to 8 high-performance "Coyote Cove" P-Cores and 16 efficient "Arctic Wolf" E-Cores, complemented by 4 LPE-Cores integrated into the I/O die. Depending on the specific SKU, Intel can deliver a single compute die supporting up to 28 cores, or a dual compute die configuration enabling a flagship 52-core desktop processor.
Staggered Launch Timeline
Intel's rollout strategy involves introducing the single compute die models first, followed by the more advanced dual compute die variants. The 28-core "Nova Lake-S" DS version, representing a new segment in Intel's desktop CPU lineup, is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2027. Overclocking enthusiasts can look forward to the "K" series SKUs, which are reportedly scheduled for an early Q2 2027 launch, likely between March and April.
Flagship 52-Core Model and Production Considerations
One of the most anticipated releases is the 52-core Nova Lake-S processor, which leverages dual compute dies to deliver unprecedented desktop performance. This top-tier model is projected to arrive between late May and September 2027. The extended timeline for the flagship SKU may be attributed to Intel's recent decision to shift most compute tile production to its advanced 18A process node. As Intel ramps up high-volume manufacturing on 18A for internal use, additional time is required to accumulate sufficient compute dies for the 52-core CPUs, which demand twice the compute tiles compared to the 28-core variants.
